Genavie Thomas P.I. Archaeologist and Cultural Resources Specialist

I am a professional archaeologist with more than 25 years of experience in the Pacific Northwest, who meets and exceeds the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards as a professional archaeologist in both Washington and Oregon. Recognized by the Washington Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) and the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) as professionally qualified, I have a BA in Anthropology/Archaeology from Western Washington University in Bellingham and a Masters in Resources Management focusing on cultural resources from Central Washington University in Ellensburg. My education and experience has helped me to develop a strong practical understanding of the regulatory framework for cultural resource preservation in which I operate and the needs of my clients who seek to understand preservation law.

I have been operating CRC since 2006 as an independent professional archaeologist and cultural resources consultant in the Northwest, specializing in compliance driven cultural resources projects throughout Washington and Oregon. My work has taken me throughout the rugged northwest and has allowed me to documents a myriad of resource types, especially in costal and riverine areas. My academic and practical field and office experience has given me a comprehensive knowledge of NW archaeology, anthropology, history, cultural resource preservation, and historic preservation principles practices and procedures and law and policies. I have an extensive field background conducting surveys, historic and precontact site identification documentation and evaluation, archival research, museum curation, tribal and agency consultation, site interpretation and GIS mapping.
